A Quiet Beginning
A Quiet Beginning
The Scottish Highlands are often described through scale - mountains, lochs, forests, open skies. But what holds my attention is usually smaller than that.
A change in the light. A line of trees reflected in dark water. Animals appearing at the edge of a field. A path disappearing into the forest. The kind of moments that do not announce themselves, but stay with you long after the walk is over.
Highlands Unfiltered begins as a record of those moments.
This first collection is not built around one subject. It moves through landscape, wildlife, weather, water and the traces of ordinary life found outside. Some images are calm. Some are rougher. Some carry warmth, others the cold weight of winter. Together, they form the beginning of a visual journal shaped by place, instinct and attention.
I am not interested in presenting the Highlands as a postcard. I want the work to feel closer than that - more honest, more immediate, more lived in. The Highlands as they are encountered on foot, in changing conditions, with no guarantee of perfect light and no need to force a scene into something it is not.
This is where the project begins: with observation, atmosphere and the simple act of being there.
Thank you for joining me at the beginning of this journey. I hope you enjoy what you find here.
